Vintage Audemars Piguet automatic circa 1957

Our understanding is that Audemars Piguet produced just 700 watches with this movement which is actually a LeCoultre calibre 2499, n°61803.

The watch was put into production on February 13th, 1957 and sold on August 13th of the same year to the famous retailer Gubelin.

This model 5123 watch is housed in an 18kt yellow gold case and is in very good condition and is stamped with the case number 9856.

The watch has had minimal use and is in good running condition.

After having an archive search done by Audemars Piguet, it was found that the dial is not original to the watch however, there is no mention of the dial benign replaced in the Audemars Piguet records. Conceivably it may be a service dial as it is an original Audemars Piguet dial.
The dial can be rectified by Audemars Piguet at a later date if the buyer so wishes.

This is a very rare and lovely watch which is very elegant with center seconds and no date.
